Studying a sports degree at Buxton will ensure you get off to the very best start with your career.
Every sports student in Buxton is encouraged to make the most of their time at University by engaging with our professional networks to gain work experience, coaching practice, and undertaking industry-backed research.
During the term time students work with local sports clubs, including Buxton FC and RUFC, Stockport County FC, Stoke City FC, Derbyshire CCC, Buxton Swimming Club, and other organisations to provide coaching, Strength and Conditioning, and sports analysis to the athletes.
There are also close relationships with local schools. All students are given the opportunity to earn coaching badges during intensive training weeks and tare then encouraged to take their skills and deliver sessions in local schools. In 2014-15 the FdSc Sports Coaching students earned a level two coaching award in Fencing, allowing them to deliver fencing sessions in local junior schools, as well as at community groups.
We also help students to arrange a variety of summer work placements. Our partnership with Challenger Coaching, for example, allows dozens of Buxton students to travel to the United States and beyond to coach football at training camps, providing a great opportunity to put what they have learned at University into real-word situations while enjoying the adventure of a lifetime.
