”Simon Greenfield studied BSc (Hons) Geology and is currently studying MSc Applied Petroleum Geoscience whilst working.
Simon's role
Simon works at Kirk Petrophysics as a core analyser and his role has already included trips to Ghana, Poland, Luxemburg and Tanzania where he supervised the retrieval of core samples from off-shore rigs.
"The job is exactly what I was hoping to do. It involves analysing samples taken from subsurface hydrocarbon reservoirs from various locations around the world, looking for evidence of the environments the reservoirs were laid down in and making predictions about reservoir architecture and morphology, which is in turn used in part to help calculate reserves".

Events
Simon's role and experiences have opened him up to a world of opportunities such as attending the London Petrophysical Society's Annual University Open Day where he was invited to speak to students about his subject.
Simon was also invited back to the University of Derby to talk at a recent open day, Simon said "It was great to be invited back to speak to students about my new role - and to share my experiences of work so far".
