An ambitious Applied Petroleum Geoscience student from Nigeria who studied a master's degree at the University of Derby has since gone on to become a leading Geoscientist at an internationally recognised oil and gas company.
Lawrence Itakpe, who graduated in 2011, recognises the support and knowledge gained from his time at the University as playing a crucial role in his career development and success.

Lawrence, who now works for oil and gas research company Nubian Group in Nigeria, said: "I decided to study at Derby as the master's programme in Applied Petroleum Geoscience offered by the University is very comprehensive and in line with industry development and demand.
"The academic staff who taught me offered a high level of industry knowledge and expertise in the field and were very supportive and encouraging during my studies."
