Geology is the study of the solid Earth, the processes which have shaped its development over thousands of millions of years, and the evolution of life on Earth. Geological processes have resulted in a wealth of natural resources including most of our major energy sources, mineral deposits and water.

Fantastic fieldwork
Fieldwork and practical skills are fundamental to all our courses, and we put a strong emphasis on hands-on experience in the laboratory and in the field. Derby is ideally situated for fieldwork, with the Peak District on our doorstep. You'll have the opportunity to visit other areas of the UK, plus Tenerife and Morocco.
