Fieldwork
Fieldwork
As part of the programmes you'll carry out practical training. The practical training consists of spending a minimum of 130 working days in a placement. Your placement is very important as it will help to prepare for the Independent Study module and enable you to meet some of the professional requirements of both the Chartered Institute of Environment Health CIEH and the Royal Environmental Health Institute Scotland REHIS.
The placement can be undertaken in a variety of locations in public and private practice, examples include:
- Local government
- Health protection agency
- Environment Agency
- Consultancy groups
- Private companies with environmental health functions.
In certain circumstances it may be necessary to undertake your placement at more than one organisation as not all potential placement providers are able to provide the full range of environmental health experiences.
