Specialist sport courses at our Buxton campus

Why study sport at our Buxton campus?

If you're looking for a stimulating learning experience in sport, our Buxton campus is an ideal choice for you. Our courses are developed in conjunction with industry, which means that they're representative of existing working environments. You will be offered the chance to get involved with coaching elite athletes and will have opportunities to go on fieldtrips and do a work placement, either in the UK or abroad.

Study at Buxton and you'll:

  • get to use a wide range of high quality sport facilities, including a climbing wall, fitness suite, and sports laboratory
  • have the opportunity to gain a professional qualification during your course; either an Institute of Sport and Recreation Management Certificate or the British Cycling award
  • leave with the skills and knowledge to support you on your chosen career path. Our graduates are now working as sport development coaches, learner coaches, and even as head coach for the Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy.

Our undergraduate sport courses

At Buxton, we have a variety of undergraduate sport courses for you to choose from:

Buxton: a picturesque town filled with charm and character

Buxton is a lively, welcoming town located five minutes from the Buxton campus - it boasts a vibrant personality and everything you’ll need as a student.

Despite its size, the town is home to a range of perfectly formed pubs, bars, and clubs, and student nights take place on Wednesdays. If you're looking for a bigger night out or have an urge to explore, Buxton train station is only five minutes from the campus.

Away from the party scene, you'll have the chance to play sports, learn new skills, and make the most of the beautiful locations on your doorstep - particularly the Peak District National Park.
