Postdoctoral Research Fellowship
This scheme is open to postdoctoral researchers in the areas of research interest of the four Faculties and their research groups and centres. Please follow the link to the Research Group/Centre of your choice.
Non-Stipendiary Fellows will be expected to contribute to the development of the research profile of the relevant school within the faculty and to disseminate the results of research through conference papers, public presentations, the organisation of project-related events and other appropriate venues. The fellowships are intended for outstanding researchers who have recently (within 1 year) completed their PhD and received the degree award.
Eligibility
Postdoctoral researchers working in the areas of research supported by the relevant Research Group/Centre. Potential applicants are welcome to discuss applications with the Head of the Research Group and the Faculty Research Manager.
Application
By curriculum vitae and a completed application form, with two letters of recommendation (one from the PhD supervisor), and a sample publication which has been released prior to the submission of the application. If a current PhD student is interested in the fellowship s/he should discuss it with her/his Director of Studies and the Head of the relevant Research Group/Centre. A formal application (as outlined above) should be made to the Chair of Faculty Research and Research Degree Committee.
Duration
Fellowships may last for 1-3 years. The fellowship may be renewed if application is made at least 2 months before the end of the fellowship. The application should be made to the Head of the relevant Research Group/Centre and the Chair of FRRDC, accompanied by an interim report on the work completed to date and the plans for further research on this and/or affiliated project(s).
Conditions
The fellowship is non-stipendiary and none of the benefits of it may be commuted into a monetary payment. Fellows are normally expected to give at least one presentation per year about their projects at a relevant event at the University (such as a research group seminar). Further presentations will be made at the conferences and workshops in the fellows’ disciplines. At the end of each year of the fellowship, fellows must provide the Head of the relevant Research Group/Centre and the Chair of Faculty Research and Research Degree Committee with a report on the research conducted and other activities undertaken. This should include a list of the publications arising from the research conducted during the fellowship. Fellows must also submit progress reports on their projects to the Head of the Research Group/Centre with which they are affiliated.
