University Research Ethics Committee (UREC)

The University Research Ethics Committee (UREC) is responsible for the oversight of all matters relating to the prior ethical consideration of research undertaken at the University of Derby. Its purpose is to ensure that investigations are progressive whilst not damaging the Institution or the interests of individuals who are participant to, or the subject of, such research.

Subject Research Ethics Committees (SRECs)

The primary responsibility for the ethical consideration and approval of research rests with Subject Research Ethics Committees (SRECs). These Committees' are responsible for monitoring the ethical status and if appropriate provide ethical approval for applications within their academic areas. Most applicants are considered at this level.
