Ethical considerations

Guidance documents

The University is concerned to protect the rights, dignity, safety and privacy of research participants, the welfare of animals and the integrity of the environment.  The University is also concerned to protect the health, safety and academic freedom of researchers and the reputation of the University and its partners as centres of appropriately conducted, high quality research. The Collaborative Provision and Research Ethics document expands on how the University can support your research ethical considerations.

This paper briefly explores some of the key issues that specifically relate to research data arising from evaluation activities. This may be considered relevant and useful for other purposes beyond that originally envisaged in the initial investigation. It is designed to inform and support students and academics to reflect on general guidelines using some practical strategies including case studies.
