Director: Professor James Elander

Professor James Elander is a health psychologist whose main area of research concerns how people with chronic painful conditions, like haemophilia and sickle cell disease, cope with pain, communicate about pain, and use painkillers to control pain. He also does research on students’ academic writing, which focuses on improving students’ ‘authorial identity’, and helping students new to Higher Education make a successful transition to university academic writing.
