The Centre is a dynamic and growing research community made up of research active people, scholars and creative practitioners who are committed to developing good quality research within the University of Derby achieved what has been described as 'an outstanding' in the last RAE results..
The Research Centre hosted the highly successful international conference, ‘Affective Landscapes’, in May (2012), which included a tribute to Centre member Professor David Crouch (University Professor of Cultural Geography). Papers from its 2009 symposium were edited for a book published by Rodopi Press in January 2012.
The ICR Research Centre runs a seminar series for the dissemination of research and scholarship, and provides the opportunity for both research students and academic colleagues to present papers and to test work in progress.
The ICR Research Centre has always sought to attract new postgraduate research students, whilst informing the curriculum and feeding into post-graduate initiatives at both Masters and MPhil/PhD levels.

Professor Robert Hudson’s research is rooted in the histories and cultural politics of conflicts and post-conflict aftermaths. This has included Yugoslavia and Yugoslav successor states, and the history and representation of France and its conflicts from 1939 to 1962.
