The Derwent area of Derby is an area of high economic and social disadvantage that was awarded New Deal for Communities funding of £42 million over ten years.

Working with residents to produce a Community Stories publication

Teresa Flower and her colleagues here at Derby have been involved in this programme in a number of ways.

One of these was the production of a Community Stories publication, which was the result of work undertaken with a number of projects and residents in the area. It captured the stories of 17 people who live, work or volunteer in the area.

Everyone felt their life had changed for the better

The individuals all felt that their lives had changed for the better as a result of the New Deal programme, and the opportunities it had created for them.
