New Horizons Postgraduate Research Conference
New Horizons - Derby's annual postgraduate research conference was run for the third time on January 13th, 2012 at the Court Room lecture theatre, Kedleston Road campus. At the one-day conference, papers and posters from many different subject areas showcased research currently done at the University of Derby.
Dr Ian Baker opened the conference with a keynote talk on the psychology of superstitions and Dr Victoria Carpenter contributed a keynote talk on literary representations of the 1968 Tlatelolco Massacre.
Four sessions were dedicated to the themes Technology & Management, Media & Education, Religion & Society, and Health & Well-Being. Posters were displayed electronically on screens. For the first time, a poster prize was awarded. The joined winners were Lauren Kelly for her poster "Attentional Bias for Threat Faces in Trait Anxious Children" and Gwangtim Timothy Poyi for his poster "Neuro-Fuzzy Control of the X4-Flyer".
The organisers would like to thank everyone involved with the conference for their support!
