In the past he was a visiting lecturer on the Organisational Behaviour MSc course at City University, covering career and lifespan development, theories of career choice and modes of helping.

Since 2009 David has been the lead author on the blog Careers — in Theory, which aims to develop greater reflective practice in practitioners by applying classic and cutting edge career theory, research and a variety of other ideas to guidance and coaching practice.
