David Winter - iCeGS Associate
David is a practising career adviser and consultant at The Careers Group, University of London. Since becoming a higher education careers adviser in 1994 after a background in scientific publishing, David has worked in most of the colleges of the University of London providing careers advice and guidance to undergraduates and postgraduates.
More recently, the majority of his work has been in C2, the consultancy division of The Careers Group. Here he provides one-to-one guidance and coaching for professionals at any career stage. C2 also provides career development services, training and consultancy to organisations, and David has worked extensively with clients such as the British Medical Association, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Fitch Ratings, London Southbank University, the Institute of Cancer Research and Shell UK.
David is heavily involved in helping other career practitioners to develop professionally. As well as delivering extensive internal training within The Careers Group on a range of guidance-related topics, for several years he has been a tutor on the AGCAS Advanced Guidance Skills residential course, which is part of the diploma for HE careers practitioners offered through Warwick University. He has provided consultancy to other careers organisations on professional development issues. In the past he was a visiting lecturer on the Organisational Behaviour MSc course at City University, covering career and lifespan development, theories of career choice and modes of helping.
Since 2009 David has been the lead author on the blog Careers — in Theory, which aims to develop greater reflective practice in practitioners by applying classic and cutting edge career theory, research and a variety of other ideas to guidance and coaching practice.
