What is the procedure for reviewing cases referred to University Research Ethics Committee (UREC)?
During the 2006 autumn semester, Education, Health and Sciences Faculty Research and Research Degrees Committees (FRRDC) referred a specific case that they had concerns relating to a PhD student's project. The objective of this paper was not to reopen the specifics of this case, but as it was the first referral to University Research Ethics Committee (UREC) to review the processes by which the case was considered, towards the establishment of a defined procedural process for dealing with future referrals.
