Learning Beyond Registration
Learning Beyond Registration (LBR) is a vital part of developing competent, capable health service practitioners prepared to deliver a dynamic, flexible, quality, client-focused service. If you're employed by the NHS in the East Midlands then you may be eligible for fee-free access to our LBR modules and/or programmes. You'll need to supply evidence of approval from your line manager and Trust Education Lead when you apply.
About this module
This module is designed to enable you to explore in depth the current research approaches and methodologies which impact on the delivery of advanced practice in the health care arena.
It has relevance for all health care professionals, but is particularly useful for those who have an interest in developing their skills of using research in practice, those who participate in clinical decision making and for students who require grounding in essential elements of research methodologies and evidence based practice prior to undertaking independent scholarship.
The module partly utilises a problem based learning approach covers a range of areas including:
- The nature of current research approaches
- Mixed methods, qualitative or quantitative research approaches
- Using research in practice
- Critical evaluation of evidence
- Evidential underpinnings of practice (EBP).
Learning outcomes
On completion of the module you will be able to:
- Reflect critically upon an area of practice to consider the relevance of research approaches and methodologies in the context of advanced practice.
- Evaluate the overall contribution of research to the future development of advanced professional knowledge and practice.
