Study in our top of the range Clinical Skills Suite.

Clinical Skills Suite

Our £1.5m health suite is used to educate and train thousands of our students in specialist areas such as Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Radiography, Counselling and Psychotherapy. It also houses The Park Medical Practice, a health centre for current students.

You'll get to study in our fantastic imaging suite:

  • GE Proteus X-ray unit
  • Agfa computed radiography system for image manipulation, image inversion and edge enhancement
  • DXA (Bone Densitometry) scanner
  • An ultrasound machine.

These are linked to an Agfa Picture Archiving and Communications (PACS) system, which allows radiographers to distribute images via email.

Take a look at our Clinical Skills Suite website for more information.

NSS results

The NSS results are really important as they give you an idea of what our students think of us as a University. This year we have scored particularly well in Radiography. Find out more.

Osteoporosis conference

We are hosting our Sixth National Educational Conference on Osteoporosis and Falls during July 2010.

You'll be guided by a number of national experts as the conference follows the patient pathway from initial presentation with a fall or a 'signal' fracture, through to the hip fracture. The programme will be backed up with a variety of practical workshops on real-world experience from clinicians involved in front-line care.

For more information go to our Osteoporosis and Falls conference website.

Whether you're just starting out or an experienced professional, we've got courses to suit you

Within Radiography, we have three main areas:

  • diagnostic imaging
  • health informatics
  • osteoporosis and falls.

We've got close links with service, so our courses are up to date and meet the needs of the modern healthcare professional.

We offer a referral service too

If you're a chiropractor, GP or NHS consultant, you can refer your patients to us for a range of x-ray examinations, and bone densitometry (DXA) scans.

You'll be able to refer patients to us for ultrasound examination, soon.

Thirty-minute appointments are available on Monday afternoons from 2pm - 5pm, and Wednesday mornings from 9am - 1pm.

We can also see patients as an emergency.

All examinations are carried out by one of our qualified radiographers, registered with the Health Professions Council. One of our imaging assistants will help both your patient and the radiographer.

We're continually improving our services

We're developing the following services:

  • image reporting service for axial and appendicular skeleton
  • bone densitometry scanning and reporting service
  • ultrasound scanning and reporting service for abdominal, pelvic and musculo-skeletal systems.
