Programme leader Maggie Gale talks about the course.

  • This course is currently the only online psychology degree to be accredited by the British Psychological Society.
  • It's very flexible, so you can study whenever it suits you.
  • We've been delivering this course for seven years, so it's very well established.
  • Your study materials will be available through the internet, and you'll get lots of support from your tutor.
  • You'll communicate with other students and your tutors online, through discussion groups and email, so you'll be part of the online community for this course.

About the course

This course is made up of three stages that you'll normally study over four years. However the course is designed to be flexible and can be studied over any period of 3 to 8 years.

During stage one you'll focus on basic concepts and the skills you need to successfully study psychology online. Then in stage two you'll look at the core areas that are required by the British Psychological Society. During stage three you'll take the final core modules, and an exciting range of optional modules, so you can follow your own specialist interests.

This course is delivered almost entirely online - you only need to come to Derby for one residential week in stage two.

If you can't come to the residential week, or don't want to get Graduate Basis for Registration you can take an alternative module instead and graduate with BSc Psychological Studies.

You'll be assessed by your coursework - there are no exams.

You can start this course in September, January or April, giving you the flexibility to start studying when it suits you best.

Psychology at Derby is not involved in animal research.
