Don't be a nuisance neighbour

Make sure you're a good neighbour.

You'll have lots of independence and freedom while you're living in private accommodation.

But it's important to make sure that your lifestyle doesn't upset your neighbours.

If you're living in a terraced house the noise from your late night parties and stereo can easily disturb your neighbours.

If they complain to the Noise Nuisance Team at the council, you may get fined.

Rubbish collections

In Derby City rubbish is divided into several categories.

  • Black bin - general household waste
  • Blue bin - glass, cans and plastics
  • Brown bin - garden and food waste
  • Blue bag - paper, magazines and junk mail
  • Orange bag - cardboard
  • Red bag - textiles

In Buxton, the rubbish is divided between three bins.

  • Black bin - general household waste
  • Green bin - garden and food waste
  • Brown bin - glass, foil, aluminium, drinks cans, food containers, empty aerosols, magazines, junk mail and cardboard.

Find out your collection day in Derby, or in Buxton.

If you live in a house with five or more adults, you are entitled to a larger black bin. Contact Derby City Council  or High Peak Borough Council for details.
