Keep your property secure
Student houses can be vulnerable to burglary.
So check that your house is secure before you move in
When you're house hunting, check that there are thief resistant locks fitted to the doors, and ideally, the windows too.
Lock your doors and windows when you go out
And if it's dark and no one's in, leave a light on.
Take your valuables home over the holidays
If you go home for Christmas or Easter, take your computer, TV, stereo and other valuable items with you.
It's also a good idea to take out personal belongings insurance to cover your possessions.
