Our Registered Accommodation Scheme

Getting your property approved and registered with us

University approved accommodation logo

Send us a photocopy of the valid council certificate for the property you want registering with us along with your University Registration Application form (Word,894kb) .

You'll need to complete a separate form for each property you'd like to register.

If your property is in Buxton, we'll contact you to arrange for your property to be inspected by us.

If your property meets the required standards, we'll issue your Registered Accommodation Scheme certificate.

What we expect from you

We expect you to act in a responsible manner and abide by the regulations affecting private rented accommodation at all times.

If you don't comply with good practice and legislation that relates to health and safety we may suspend or remove your property from our register.

If you direct students to other properties that aren't registered by us, or you provide any false information, we may suspend your registration.

You must provide a tenancy agreement between you and your tenant that clearly shows the contractual obligations. You're advised to take independent advice about your tenancy agreements - we can't accept responsibility for any agreement that you have with a student tenant.

Charges for our Registered Accommodation Scheme

Our fees include advertising and promoting your property for one calendar year.

You'll need to renew your registration annually for your property to remain approved by us.

Standard charge

The standard charge for University registration is £100 for each property.

Charge for a large property

If your property houses more than five students, the fee increases by £8.50 for each additional student place.

Renewal charge

Our current renewal charge is £72 for each property, if you renew your registration within one month of the expiry date.

Using an agent or management service to look after your property

We don't operate a management or head leasing service - your property and your tenancy arrangements remain your responsibility. But we can sometimes mediate between the parties if there are problems.

If you appoint an agent or management service to look after your property, the agent you use must be approved by us - contact us before appointing an agent to manage your accommodation.
