Part time fees and finance
You can now pay for your part time course in installments, to help you spread the cost out
If you're studying part time and paying for yourself we make it easier for you by automatically spreading the cost of your course over 4 equal payments across a period of 7 months.
So, if you're starting your course in September you'll pay:
- 25% of your fees when you enrol in September
- 25% on 1 November
- 25% on 1 January
- your final 25% on 1 March.
If you're starting your course in January, you'll pay:
- 25% of your fees when you enrol in January
- 25% on 1 March
- 25% on 1 May
- your final 25% on 1 July.
We apply this flexible payment approach to the cost of whatever stage of a part time course you enrol for in September or January.
For example
- HND in Business and Management - two years to complete part time, each year costs £1,800.
- We split £1,560 into 4 lots across 7 months = £450 for each installment.
How much will studying part time cost?
This depends on:
- what you'd like to study
- the qualification you want, and
- how the course is taught.
If you're already in work, your course could even be paid for by your employer - about half of our part time students are sponsored in this way. Ask your employer about any schemes they may offer.
You may also be able to get help toward tuition costs from us or your Local Authority.

10% off postgraduate courses
If you've already completed an undergraduate course here at Derby, and now want to do a postgraduate course, you could get 10% off your postgraduate course.
If you've got a disability
At Derby, we've got an excellent reputation for the support we give to our students with disabilities.
There's a Disabled Students' Allowance for students who have extra study costs due to their disability, and we can help you apply for this.
