Support for successful study
We want to ensure that you have every opportunity to successfully complete your studies and achieve your career and personal goals. Our specialist Online Tutors and dedicated Online Learning Advisors work together to ensure you have everything you need and to answer any questions you might have.
Your academic support team
When you need academic guidance, you should turn first to your allocated Online Tutor. If you simply need to talk through an idea, like many online students before, you can turn to other students for help and support too.
Your online learning advisor
You can turn to our friendly Online Learning Advisors when you have questions about more practical things like
- how many credits you need to pass a stage of study, or achieve an award
- what the university regulations mean for you
- what your statement of achievement means
- how to look for results on 'UDo', the University's virtual learning environment
- what it means and what to do if you’re offered a referral
- the difference between referrals and deferrals
- applying for an extension for submitting your work
- taking a break from your studies
- problems with tutor contacts
Your Online Learning Advisor can also direct you to other campus-based university services including:
Library services
InFocus is a library and information support service for students studying off-campus. It is run by the Distributed Learning Unit who can help you to obtain information for your studies, post photocopies of journal articles and book chapters wherever you are in the world, and, if you live in the UK or Ireland post books to you too. Through the e-Library you will have access to a wealth of e-books, journals, specialist databases and resources.Student wellbeing
