Kirstin Tranter

What made you decide to do this course?

It offered me the shortest route to gain the suitably accredited award I needed without having to travel to another institution, once a week for two years.

How would you describe your online student experience?

Learning while working full time was difficult but very rewarding. It gave me the flexibility that I needed to continue living my life and avoid sacrificing too much to complete the course.

What did you find particularly beneficial?

The fact that the course materials were available at any time of the day and night, therefore allowing me to fit my studies into my life, as opposed to having to fit my life around my studies.

What would you say to anyone considering an online degree at Derby?

Be organised – set aside some time to complete the work each week, and try to be disciplined about it.

How has your online degree helped your career?

I’m only a step away from my Environmental Health Officer qualification thanks to this course. Had I done another [campus taught] course I would have still been dealing with the taught sections.
