Online Psychology courses

Our broad range of online psychology courses and degrees offer you a more flexible way to progress or get started in your psychology career. Run by our well-respected School of Psychology, some of our programmes are accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), making you eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC). This is the first step to becoming a Chartered Psychologist.

A leader in online psychology education

We were one of the first universities to offer an accredited online psychology degree (back in 2006) and we continue to be a leader in online psychology education today, providing high levels of support to our students. We have over 1,000 online students across our Psychology courses, so you’ll become part of a large and supportive community.

If you don’t yet have a degree

If you don’t know which area of psychology you want to go into, you will probably want to start with our general online BSc (Hons) Psychology: a BPS-accredited degree which takes 3 - 6 years and covers all the core training you need to then go on and specialise.

However, if you know you want to pursue a career in forensic psychology or a related field, you can start with our online BSc (Hons) Forensic Psychology, which specialises from day one.

If you are not yet ready for a full degree, you could take our online University Certificate in Psychology for 6 months - 1 year and learn the foundations of psychology. If that goes well, you can then transfer on to the online BSc (Hons) Psychology.

If you have a degree in another subject

We offer postgraduate conversion programmes for people who want to get into psychology but have a degree in another subject:

Both courses will provide you with the all-important Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), enabling you to go on to specialist training on a BPS accredited postgraduate training programme.

If you are ready to start postgraduate training

If you already have GBC, you will be ready to move onto postgraduate training in the specialism of your choice. We currently offer a Health Psychology or Forensic Psychology route for students who are looking to gain stage one of the professional training required for Chartered Membership of the BPS (CPsychol):

What I’ve enjoyed the most is how friendly and willing the tutors are to help you. I’m fortunate to have an excellent tutor for my final research paper, who is always willing to help and is also just a lovely human being to chat to.
