Funding

If you are studying one of these qualifications, you may be eligible for funding

The following qualifications are eligible for funding:

  • FdA
  • CertEd
  • Diploma Higher Ed
  • Full (Hons) degree
  • 1 Year level 6 (top up)

The funding options are available to UK students only, and vary depending on whether you are studying an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.  Please see below for details.

If you are a new undergraduate student and are self–funding

There are Part Time Loans now available for undergraduate study.

From September 2012, Online Distance Learning programmes are classed as part-time study and therefore new students, resident in England only*, can apply for a part time loan. The criteria to claim a part time loan is that your rate of study (total number of credits) for that year must be worth a minimum of 25% (30 credits) of a full time course (120 credits).

The number of credits you study in a year will depend upon how many modules you choose and the credit value of each module. The module and credit information for each course can be found on the course page.

More information on student funding can be found on the direct.gov.uk website.

*Students from Wales and Northern Ireland are not eligible for the new part time loans but are still eligible for part time grants (see below).

If you are a new postgraduate student and are self-funding

Unfortunately post graduate study (e.g. MSc, MA, MBA) is not currently covered by any form of loan or grant available from Student Finance England. However there are Professional and Career Development Loans available from selected banks which have various criteria for eligibility. Details can be found on the direct.gov.uk website, click here for more information.

If you are a new undergraduate/postgraduate student with Sponsorship

Your employer/sponsor may be willing to pay for 100% of your course fees, in which case we will invoice them for the full amount of the fees for the year when you enrol.

If your employer/sponsor is paying for a percentage towards your fees, then we will invoice them for this amount when you enrol and you will be required to pay 40% of the remaining balance also.

Please ask your employer/sponsor to write to us confirming this, using our sponsor letter template (Word, 24.5k) as a guide. The address of where to send the letter is included.

PLEASE NOTE – We will require a new confirmation letter at the start of each academic year (September).

If you are a current undergraduate student with a grant

If you had a part time grant for your previous year of study, you are not eligible for the new part time loan as you will be able to continue with this funding into 2012/2013 (subject to circumstances remaining the same).

Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)

Any student with a disability can make an application to Student Finance England (SFE) for DSA funding. This funding is available for support purposes throughout study e.g. specialist equipment/software/materials etc., it is not available to cover tuition fees. Visit direct.gov.uk for further information.
