Winning Looks Presented at Student Showcase
Just one of the incredible looks showcased during the event
Students at Buxton College, part of the University of Derby Buxton, have had their work applauded by industry professionals at the annual Hair and Beauty Showcase event.
A packed audience of beauty industry professionals, friends and family filled the Devonshire Dome at Buxton on May 17 to view the Hair and Beauty course students' latest creations. Around 240 guests watched as models with 'avant-garde' styles created by NVQ Level 3 hairdressing students graced the catwalk.
Hairstyles entitled 'Antique Doll' and 'Gothic Masquerade' were created using the latest hair-styling techniques, which incorporated hair extensions and hair pieces, while make-up looks were designed by NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy students to complement the themes.
Sheila Hughes, NVQ Level 3 Coordinator at Buxton College, said: "The end of year event was an opportunity for our Level 3 Hair and Beauty students to showcase everything they've learned so far and to use their creative talents to produce avant garde hairstyles and make-up looks, while Level 2 students created commercial daytime looks. The students worked on the hairstyles and make-up looks for up to eight weeks and they all did a superb job."
The innovative looks were judged by a panel of industry professionals. The winner was Jenny Corlett with her hairstyle 'Antique Doll', while 'Gothic Masquerade' by Claire Garner-White came second and 'Wicked Queen' by Eloise Hardy was third.
