The Career Development Centre will be running a programme of events for our students in the forthcoming academic year.

From our annual Volunteering Fair on Wednesday 3 November which gives students, staff and the public a chance to meet a large number of voluntary organisations offering a number of volunteering opportunities.

To our Work and Study Abroad Fair during the spring semester which allows students to look into gaining experience and enhancing their CV overseas.

Our next upcoming event will be 'Focus on Teaching' fortnight. Many students consider teaching as a career they would like to enter after graduation.

'Focus on Teaching' fortnight allows them the opportunity to explore whether becoming a teacher is the right choice for them. Sessions during the fortnight also specifically support those students who want to apply for a PGCE or GTP course.

Various workshops will run between 11 - 22 October, facilitated by Careers Advisers from the Career Development Centre. Workshops include 'Is Teaching for Me?', 'Routes into Teaching', 'Alternatives to Teaching' and 'Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector'.

There will also be practical sessions on how to apply for a PGCE including writing personal statements and PGCE interviews.

For more information on how students can attend these workshops during the fortnight and all our other upcoming events, please visit www.derby.ac.uk/careers/events
