University Welcomes Tourism, Hospitality And Spa Industry Experts
1 November 2012
Leading figures from the tourism, hospitality and spa industries are to meet at the University of Derby Buxton on Thursday November 1, where the future sustainability of each industry will be discussed with academics and current students.
Both the Buxton Spa Forum, which returns for its second consecutive year, and the inaugural Tourism and Hospitality Conference, are being held in the University's iconic Devonshire Dome.
The events, organised by the University of Derby Buxton's events management company, Dome Events, will help current students studying towards a degree in Tourism, Hospitality or International Spa Management gain a greater understanding of the relevant industries and the effort that is being made to ensure their long term sustainability.
Dr Gillian Hunter, researcher and workshop leader at the event, said: "These events provide a great networking opportunity for our students and industry professionals to seek and create opportunities, gain expert knowledge, and drive forward industry standards, research and education."
During the event guests will have the opportunity to dine at the Dome's Fine Dining Restaurant with food being delivered by talented International Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts students.
Sarah Rawlinson, Assistant Dean at the University of Derby Buxton, added: "With our commitment to providing real world learning to our students, we aim to involve them where possible in the organisation of events at the Dome.
"These conferences will provide a fantastic opportunity for our hospitality, events management and culinary arts students to gain essential events management experience with the supervision of event professionals in a truly unique commercial learning environment."
