University Shares In School's Success

28 April 2011

The University is part of the Derby Moor School Trust, which has recently been recognised by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust in their 'most improved' category.

To meet the criteria in this category, the number of the school's pupils achieving five or more A*to C results improved year on year from 2007-2010 by 35 percentage points or more.

As a partner of the Derby Moor School Trust, the University has seen the progress the school has made to raise standards and improve the attainment, achievement and progression of their students and staff. It is doing so by empowering students to become independent learners, staff training and accreditation, and working with the school to plan pathways of opportunity for students, their parents and local learners so they can gain access to higher education.

June Hughes, University of Derby Registrar said: "We are delighted with in Derby Moor's achievements, and look forward to continuing to work with the school trust, and sharing in its future success."

Wendy Whelan, Headteacher at Derby Moor School, thanked the University. She said: "We are thrilled with this recent result. Thank you for all that you have done to contribute to this."
