University Kicks Off New Term With A Rebranded Stadium Banner

The University of Derby demonstrated its ongoing support of Derby County Football Club recently by revealing its newly rebranded banner, situated on the North Stand of the Pride Park Stadium, as part of its partnership with the Club.
The 50 metre wide banner gives football fans an insight into the benefits of studying at Derby, such as real world learning, small class sizes, personal tutors and a great selection of courses.
Hari Punchihewa, Deputy Chief Executive at the University, visited the ground and met with Derby County Club Captain Shaun Barker and goalkeeper Adam Legzdins to officially unveil the banner.
He said: "As a regionally routed, community based University we are keen to promote sports and leisure activities to all of our students, staff and people of Derbyshire and beyond.
"The University is very proud to be a partner of Derby County Football Club and the work we jointly do to promote Derby and Derbyshire as a hub of sporting excellence will support the aims of both organisations in achieving their sporting aspirations."
The University's commitment to sport has been recognised through the recent success of Team Derby; which won an award for 'Most Improved University' at the 2012 British Universities and Colleges Sport League (BUCS) Awards, and also climbed 27 places up the BUCS league table to 77th place this year.
Hari adds: "We're serious about sport and work closely with other key local sporting organisations to attract, develop and retain talented athletes in the county by providing them with the opportunity to gain suitable educational qualifications at the same time they enhance their sporting skills and participate in competitions."
Lisa Biesty, Head of Commercial at Derby County, said: "The University of Derby has begun its fifth year of partnering with the Club with a big new presence at the Stadium, reinforcing its commitment to our future generation of professionals within the City of Derby and County of Derbyshire."
