University Key Sponsor Of UK's Biggest Outdoors Event
2 July 2012
One of the UK's biggest outdoors festivals will return to the Peak District and the University of Derby Buxton is proud to be a key sponsor.
Thousands of visitors are expected to flood into Graves Park, Sheffield, for Cliffhanger 2012 and experience some of the hundreds of activities the great outdoors has to offer.
Last year, some 20,000 attended the weekend festival, and this year the organisers expect it to be even bigger and better.
Festival co-organiser, Matt Heason from Heason Events, said: "Anyone who loves the great outdoors is going to love Cliffhanger 2012. Visitors can experience climbing walls, mountain-biking, off-road running, orienteering, artificial caving, and even get involved in a 50kilometre cycle. They can watch and enjoy elite competitions, bike stunt displays, Welsh bocking and slack-lining, bike polo, roller derby, scuba diving, skateboarding and parkour.
"Our aim is to inspire the next generation with a love of the great outdoors."
Dr Peter Dewhurst, Dean of the University of Derby Buxton, added: "We are delighted to sponsor Cliffhanger 2012. Our Outdoor, Adventure and Countryside Management degree students share the event's passion for inspiring people to get out there and enjoy the great outdoors.
"As we are uniquely placed in the heart of the Peak District, our students get the opportunity to experience many of its outdoor activities and they know first hand how much the area has to offer. This will be a fantastic celebration of the area, and the great outdoors."
