I'm delighted to win this regional recipe award as I worked hard to create a unique and delicious meal

A recipe based on a local cheese created by a Chef-Lecturer at the University of Derby Buxton is the North West winner in Pritchitts' Regional Recipe Competition, and will now compete for the national prize.

In association with the Craft Guild of Chefs, leading dairy supplier, Pritchitts, called for chefs nationwide to submit their finest regional recipes using any of the company's products. The chefs and their recipes were judged on originality, regional representation and use of Pritchitts products.

Robert Stordy was the North West region's winner with his recipe 'Dovedale Blue cheese and red onion tart, cranberry relish, mixed leaves and balsamic dressing'.  Robert is Chef-Lecturer on the Foundation Degree and BA (Hons) in Professional Culinary Arts courses at the University of Derby Buxton, where he teaches students as they develop their skills in the kitchens of The Dome Fine Dining Restaurant.

He said: "I'm delighted to win this regional recipe award as I worked hard to create a unique and delicious meal that represented the food and produce found in the North West."

The twelve winners have been rewarded with a year's membership to the Craft Guild, a Global chef's knife worth £120 and the chance to feature their recipe in the Pritchitts' Craft Guild of Chefs 2011 calendar. The winning regional recipes now go on to a second stage of judging when The Dorchester Hotel's executive chef Henry Brosi will choose the overall winner.

Simon Muschamp, Head of Marketing at Pritchitts commented: "Pritchitts' Regional Recipe Competition in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs is a celebration of the diversity of regional cuisine across the UK.

"We were incredibly impressed by not only the standard of entries but by the passion that so many chefs showed, and I'd like to congratulate everyone on being very deserving regional winners."
