University Born Band To Support Duran Duran
1 December 2011
University of Derby student band Fires and Fireplaces will be performing at London's O2 Arena for the second time this year, after landing the gig as support act for famous British chart-toppers, Duran Duran.
Back in July, Fires and Fireplaces performed alongside N DUBZ, Tinchy Stryder and The Hoosiers at the finals of one of the UK's biggest music competitions - Live and Unsigned 2011. Although they didn't win the competition, the band is proving their talent and popularity as they return to the O2 on 12 December, as a support act for Duran Duran.
The student band got together after they studied the same music module for their different Derby degree courses. The line-up includes brothers Chris (lead guitar and vocals) and Simon Marles (guitar and vocals), Adam Clouston (drums), David Jackson (lead vocals) and Mark Andrews (bass guitar).
David Jackson said: "Since our O2 performance at the final of Live and Unsigned our songs have been played on many stations including BBC Radio, and we've spent lots of time gigging all over the country trying to build-up our profile.
"Landing the gig as support act for Duran Duran is incredible for us. We just can't wait to get out there and perform again at one of the best venues in the world.''
