University Begins Demolition Work On Harpur Hill Site

11 August 2011

Following the news that the University of Derby has appointed a contractor to demolish the former college buildings on its Harpur Hill site, in Buxton, we can confirm that work will begin with site set-up on Monday August 15.

Each building on the site will be surveyed for asbestos, and any materials removed by specialist contractors, before it is demolished. It is felt this phased demolition process will ensure work progresses as quickly as possible. Crushed, non-asbestos materials will remain on site for future use.

This is a considerable investment by the University, which reinforces its commitment to the future planned development of the site whilst helping improve the surrounding environment for its local neighbours.
