The past few months have seen significant new business development for UDC and we are in a great position to carry this forward.

It's exciting times for University of Derby Corporate (UDC) as it has won a number of new contracts over the past three months.

The Clancy Group, one of the leading national construction companies in utilities, transportation, power and infrastructure, has approached UDC to develop formal training for its apprentice mentors. Each year it recruits young people onto their utilities apprenticeship programme across the UK and to support this journey every apprentice is paired up with a mentor.

Previously no formal training has been given to the mentors despite many having never undertaken this role before, but now UDC is developing a Mentoring in Practice programme for Clancy to give its mentors the skills to undertake the role successfully.

120 academic and support staff at New College Nottingham have enrolled onto UDC's Level 6 Business Transformation programme, supporting the College's change strategy, and it is also working with Aurora Fashions, owner of high street brands Coast, Oasis and Warehouse, on one of the first accredited management development programmes of its type in the fashion retail industry.

June has seen over 400 Derby City Council staff begin training at the Enterprise Centre as part of the Council's preparation to move back in to the Council House.

UDC has developed a tailored programme, the University Diploma in Personal Development, which will provide managers with the necessary tools and techniques to manage a mobile workforce.

UDC has also also won a consultancy contract with the British Film Institute (BFI) to provide an analysis and training plan for the improvement of its customer service provision, comprising an audit of current customer facing operations to use as a basis for designing a strategic, joined up approach to customer service and engagement.

Andrew Hartley, Managing Director of UDC, said: "The past few months have seen significant new business development for UDC. We are in a great position to carry this forward and build on it even further with the development of our Corporate degrees and Higher Apprenticeships in 2012-13."
