For the first time the University of Derby is using huge outdoor billboard images of their successful graduates to promote their January start campaign to potential students.

The University of Derby is the only university in the Midlands to offer over 150 courses starting in January. It means students keen to start a course don't have to wait until September when academic courses traditionally start.

The campaign features successful Derby graduates who either have their own business or who are key decision makers in their organisations. Their images will be on billboards on sites across the city; at the junction of Mansfield Road and Alfreton Road, Ashbourne Road and London Road near the Deadmans Lane turning from Monday 2 November.

New students can choose from one of the 150 courses on offer with flexible study routes available including part time, on-line or work based learning through post graduate and professional courses.

Dawn Foote graduated from the University of Derby in 2001 from the BA (Hons) Photography course; she is the co-founder and owner of Katapult, a Derby-based brand communication agency.

Dawn said: "I'm happy to be involved with the campaign as I'm proud to be a graduate from the University of Derby. I came to study in Derby because of the reputation of the University's photography degree and how it's delivered. It provided me with a fantastic environment to develop new skills, try new ideas and create opportunities."

Cactus Images photographic agency, based in Derby, was formed in 2008 by Jackie Rock, Chris Howard and Angela Jenkins, immediately after they graduated from the BA (Hons) Commercial Photography course.

Angela said: "Not only did the University of Derby give us all the opportunity to achieve a qualification in our chosen profession of Photography; we also met and made friends with each other. From there we then set up our business Cactus Images. We're all happy to support this project and felt it was our way of giving something back to the University."

Peter Allen, Director of Marketing at the University added: "This campaign is a great opportunity for us to get our message across that studying at Derby significantly improves your career prospects.

"And there's no better way to show that than to use locally based graduates who have had real success. We'll be celebrating their success with more billboards around Stoke, Leicester and Nottingham."
