A group of international students studying at the University of Derby Buxton shared their food, traditions and language with fellow students and staff during a week of celebrations at their Campus.

During the University's World Culture Week, students cooked traditional food from Poland, Sweden, Cyprus and even Kenya, enjoyed displays of Hungarian and Greek dancing, and taught each other their native languages.

Students from around 40 countries enjoyed international films, circus skills, quizzes and sports, and learned about work and volunteering opportunities abroad.

International Student Advisor Mikaela Balder, who is herself from Sweden, organised the week, and said: "Our international and UK students have all really enjoyed the week. We have a very diverse student community here at our small campus in Buxton, so sharing and understanding one another's cultures is very important."

"This week has also acted as an opportunity for all of our students to integrate and learn more about one another, which they particularly enjoyed at the language exchange lunch and the quiz."

A short film of the event will be available soon on www.derby.ac.uk/connected
