Students' Remembrance Day Commemoration

7 November 2011

Public Services students from Buxton College (part of the University of Derby Buxton) will be commemorating Remembrance Day this Friday (November 11) with a service at the Dome followed by a short walk to Buxton's Cenotaph where they will lay a wreath.

The students will remember their Campus' unusual history as a hospital during wartime, and will hear about the work of famous wartime nurse and former Buxton resident, Vera Brittain, who wrote about her experiences tending to soldiers wounded in battle during the First World War.

They will also remember those service people killed and wounded more recently by honouring the traditional two minute silence at 11am.
