Buxton students presented at the Council for Hospitality Management Education (CHME) annual conference

Two University of Derby Buxton students joined a University academic in presenting at the 21st Annual Conference of the Council for Hospitality Management Education (CHME), on May 9.

Joint honours student Harriet Close, 22, presented her paper 'Nutritional benefits of locally sourced products' and postgraduate research student, Gihwan Kim, gave his paper 'Social media networks as a marketing tool for hospitality' at the conference, which was held at University College Birmingham.

University programme leader for BA (Hons) Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts degrees, Leonard Cseh, then led delegates into a debate following his presentation 'Can flow states in culinary arts programmes enhance learning?'.

The Chair of CHME commended the University of Derby Buxton as the only University to feature presentations from undergraduate students.

Harriet, Giwhan and Leonard also heard keynote speeches from Lyn Bibbings, an academic and tourism practitioner with extensive experience of both the public and private sectors, and Jennie Molz, Assistant Professor of Sociology at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.
