The 2013 competition will be the the 25th anniversary of NestlĂ© Toque d'Or® which carries the enviable reputation for inspiring and challenging catering students up and down the country.
The three University of Derby Buxton students, Andrew Collis, 20, from Loughborough, Joe Penrose, 19, from Driffield, who are both in the second year of a Foundation degree in Professional Culinary Arts degree, and Reece Straw, 20, from Nottingham who is in the first year of a Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Join Honours degree, will take the roles of front of house, chef and commis chef at the heats in Birmingham in January.
To make it through this far the team had to create a two course menu. They are now preparing to cook and serve the meal to judges and guests.
Their Chef-Lecturer, Robert Stordy, said: "This is probably the most respected student team catering competition and is highly regarded within the industry. It is extremely challenging, but the rewards are great and I am sure that our team will represent the University well and go far."
