Students Get Satisfaction At Derby
18 August 2011
Student satisfaction at the University of Derby is growing fast, according to an independent national survey.
The University has welcomed the latest results from the National Student Survey which demonstrate significant increases in student satisfaction across all the aspects measured by the survey.
Each year, students are asked to rate their experience on a score of 1 (dissatisfied) to 5 (delighted) for several aspects of their experience and for their overall satisfaction.
With an average score of 4.1 for overall satisfaction, Derby has seen a rise of 49 places from last year - moving up to 60th place out of 157 in the survey. The average for the sector is 3.99.
The proportion scoring their satisfaction with the University overall with a 4 or 5 grade has risen from 79% to 81%.
In an article in this week's Times Higher Education magazine, the University of Derby was singled out as having "satisfaction results well above the sector average".

And a new academic report out today, says that Derby is one of the best value institutions in the country.
In preparation for 2012 and changes in funding for undergraduate courses, statisticians at the University of Hertfordshire have produced an analysis which they claim creates a "Value for Money Frontier".
In their analysis, the University of Derby is one of the eight institutions noted as being best value.
This chart, published on page 7 of printed edition of this week's THE magazine, compares university league table positions with each institution's proposed fees.
