Students Embrace Opportunities At Employer Event
18 February 2013
Buxton students took the opportunity to meet and discuss career and placement opportunities with a host of high profile businesses at their campus recently.
Bannatyne Spas, Danubius Hotels Group, the Gleneagles Hotel, The Wildlife Trust and Chatsworth House were among 35 businesses who sent representatives to the 'Employability Day' in February, and spoke to the students about opportunities and career development in their industries.
Three Buxton graduates who are now working in their chosen industries also returned to their former campus to speak to students.
BSc (Hons) Spa Management graduate, Rebecca Mills, represented Bannatynes where she is now a Spa Manager, BA (Hons) Outdoor Activities graduate Philip Holman represented Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre where he is the Head of Paddlesports, and BA (Hons) Travel and
Tourism graduate Dan Eager attended on behalf of Visit Peak District where works as a Marketing Executive.
Ben Offord from the University's Employability Portal, said: "The Employer's Day was a fantastic success. We've had some great feedback from our students who have discovered some career opportunities specific to their industries.
"We must thank all of the businesses and students who came along for making it a big success."
