Staff Members Graduate

Two staff members from the University of Derby recently graduated from the PG Certificate (PG Cert) in Professional Practice (Higher Education Administration and Management, OUVA).
Beverley Matthews, Programme Advisory Service Co-ordinator and Daniel West, Quality Assurance and Secretariat Support Team Manager, collected their certificates during a graduation ceremony held at the AUA annual Conference and Exhibition at the University of Manchester (2-4 April 2012). The award was presented to them by the journalist Kate Adie OBE.
The PG Cert in Professional Practice (Higher Education Administration and Management, OUVA) is a Masters level programme validated by the Open University Validation Services.
The certficate provides an opportunity for individuals to have their knowledge and experience recognized. through independent land work -based earning, which takes either 18 months or two years to complete.
On graduating Beverley Matthews said: 'It's quite an achievement to have graduated from this course. Through this qualification all my hard work and commitment towards my professional development has been recognized.'
Daniel West commented 'It's an honor to have graduated from the PGCert and I feel well equipped to face any challenges my career may bring.'
The Association of University Administartors (AUA) is a member-led professional association. AUA Membership means to identifying the individual practitioner with the culture, values and practices of a broader professional community, and gives individual members to access publications, networking opportunities and development events.
Catherine Lillie, AUA's, Professional Development Manager said: 'The PG Certificate is designed to meet the needs of professional services colleagues working in the higher education sector providing them with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the sector whilst undertaking structured reflection on their own professional practice.'
