Sport and Exercise students received motivational team talks from some successful graduates of their course at a 'Steps to Success' career masterclass, hosted by their Programme Leader Vernon McGarey and the University's Alumni team.
The former Sport and Exercise Science and Studies students, who graduated over the past few years, returned to the University in February to speak to 25 current students about their successful pursuit of careers in sport.
They included Ian Poynton, Sports Development Officer for Snowsport England; Luke Gatus, a Lead Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach at Sheffield United Football Club; Alex Molloy, a Sports Participation Officer at the University of Derby; Sam Rose a Youth Academy Coach at Burton Albion FC; and Julianne Johnson, who is pursuing a Masters of Research degree in Sport and Exercise at Derby.
Vernon McGarey, Programme Leader, said: "After the masterclass students told us they had been 'inspired and motivated' to hear the graduates' career experiences and successes, and that they had gained some real insight into career progression."
The Alumni team also launched their new e-newsletter 'Aloud' this month, featuring all the latest news, events and opportunities for Derby alumni. To receive your copy register at www.derby.ac.uk/alumni/registerwithus/
