The Devonshire Dome rang out with the sound of drums, horns, pipes and footfall on 9 July 2010, when it was the venue for the Buxton Military Tattoo, in aid of ABF The Soldiers' Charity.

More than 800 people watched the military and musical spectacle, which included the Volunteer Band of the Mercian Regiment playing The Great Escape and the Pipes & Drums of RAF Waddington. The dramatic grand finale featured the Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band.

Stephanie Billen, Chair of the Buxton Festival Fringe Committee said: "This was an amazing visual and musical spectacle. It was good to see some variety with the 126 (City of Derby) Squadron Air Training Corps offering an exhilarating Weapons Drill Display to a pounding rock track.

"The evening was also very moving, as a full tribute was paid to soldiers who have been injured or lost their lives in the line of duty, including Buxton Marine, Scott Gregory Taylor."

The Dome's extraordinarily acoustic enhanced the experience for the audience; and some enjoyed a magnificent view from the upstairs gallery.
Next year's Tattoo takes place on Saturday 9 july 9, 2011, so visit the website www.buxtontattoo.org.uk for further information.

The Dome was a popular events venue throughout the summer months, hosting 'Afternoon Tea with the Duchess of Devonshire' which attracted around 100 people, 'The Great Dome Art Fair' which had over 9,000 visitors, and it was also the venue for a number of weddings.
