Programme Rep Conference 2011
24 November 2011
The fifth annual Programme Rep Conference has been held by the University and Students' Union (UDSU).
The one-day conference gives student course and faculty representatives the chance to feedback to senior University staff on issues and projects here at Derby.
Dom Anderson, UDSU Vice-President Academic Affairs, said: "We have a unique relationship with the University's management team. We must continue to use this opportunity constructively to represent the students who elected us."
Professor John Coyne, University Vice-Chancellor, introduced workshop sessions and a panel discussion during the November 23 event, where students could discuss matters with University managers.
He told programme reps: "You take on a great deal of responsibility on behalf of the cohorts you represent.
"So many of the decisions that have been made over the last two or three years have had their origins in this assembly, so use the voice that you have not just on these occasions but in everything you attend."
The conference is part of a programme of activities for reps over the academic year, with the UDSU helping them understand their role.
