Phones For You
27 January 2011
From January the Outlook directory of staff phone numbers - both University extensions and mobile or Blackberry phones - will be available online on the UDo website pages.
With 449 mobile phones, 'smart phones' (such as the Blackberry Curve model, allowing remote access to emails and internet) and other mobile data devices in use by University staff mobile communication is becoming increasingly important at Derby.
Steve Dashfield, of the University's IT Services department, said: "Being able to pick up emails during meetings and whilst off site has been of great benefit."
Staff who feel they would also benefit from having a work mobile phone should obtain their budget manager's approval before contacting IT Services to discuss their requirements, on ext.1234 or email: ITservices@derby.ac.uk.
Current Blackberry phone-holders should note that, in addition to University IT Services' help, they can also get assistance from Blackberry with Vodafone Managed Services.
This service can be contacted weekdays, from 8am-6pm, on phone number 08700 740 115 or email: managedservices@vodafone.com.
