University of Derby Buxton Programme Leader, Julian Robinson, will share his experience attending the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games with his BA (Hons) Events Management students as part of their studies this year.

He said: "Attending the closing ceremony was a unique opportunity and I was keen to experience the entire customer journey; from travelling on the Javelin train service that takes passengers from King's Cross St. Pancras station to the Olympic Park, through to how the 'Games Makers' volunteers interact with spectators within the stadium.

"We have designed a number of new and exciting modules this year on the BA (Hons) Events Management degree programme. One of these modules 'Service Excellence for the Events Industry' lends itself to sharing this unique experience with students so they can appreciate the importance of providing attendees with a positive and memorable experience from the beginning of an event to its end."

Other topics students cover as part of the events management programme include logistics and project management, human resources, finance, marketing, theming and staging, and event legislation.
