People looking to fast track their career in IT can now study online with the University of Derby, and top up their qualification to a degree in Information Technology in just one year.

To satisfy increased demand for online distance learning, the University of Derby has launched the new top up BSc (Hons) degree in IT for people who currently hold HND or foundation degrees in the subject.  This is one of five new programmes in the University's online provision; taking the number of programmes it delivers online up to 28.

Julie Stone, Head of University of Derby Online, said: "Over the last few years we have seen increased numbers of people from the UK and around the world applying for and successfully completing online degrees with Derby.  Last year over 1,400 people studied online with us.

"We wanted to satisfy demand from people wanting to further their education and careers in IT; and do so through the medium the suits them best - online."

Learners can study at a pace that suits them. Although the courses are 100% online; students are fully supported by teams of experienced e-tutors and dedicated support staff, and there are many opportunities for interaction with other students from around the world.

The University will welcome learners onto the BSc (Hons) degree in IT from September 2011, and is taking applications now.
